I photographed these CH-47 Chinook examples at museums and airshows from Washington to Alabama.
Though similar at first glance, the Army’s CH-47 Chinook is considerably larger and heavier than the CH-46 Sea Knight used by the Marines.
Also check out the winged Boeing Vertol CH-347 at Fort Novosel, which was used to test potential upgrades for the Chinook, several incorporated into subsequent versions of the CH-47.

1962 CH-47A 61-02409 / CH-47D 91-00261 “My Old Lady”
Rolled off the Boeing line as B-013, the fifth Chinook CH-47A accepted by the Army, and was the oldest oldest flyable CH-47 when it returned Seattle for display at the Museum of Flight. It was upgraded to a -D model in 1991 and was issued the 91-00261 serial number. It was flown in Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan, and later fought wildfires with the Washington National Guard. Reportedly, “My Old Lady” is the only authorized U.S. Army aircraft with nose art.
