I photographed this 1944 Baldwin 2-8-0 S-160 Consolidation #557 in Moses Lake, Wash.
Soon after we saw this ex-Army engine and cars in Moses Lake, the House of Poverty Museum owner Monte Holm passed away (Holm originally saved the engine from the scrapper when it was retired from service in Alaska) and the semi-preserved engine was shipped back to Alaska for a full restoration to operation for excursion rides. It is set to be back on the rails under its own steam power sometime in 2025.
