I photographed these Mercury Redstone rocket examples at the NASA Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida, and the Johnson Space Center in Houston.
Note the Launch Escape System (LES) Rocket above the capsule, that would fire and propel the crew to safety in the case of catastrophic emergency.
