USS Alabama (BB-60)

I photographed the USS Alabama in Mobile, Alabama, as a stop on the way to the 447th BGF reunion (8th AFHS reunion) in 2024. This was a “bonus” stops because I was moving more efficiently than I had planned, and really only came on my radar when a docent at another museum reminded me that it was essentially on my path. I decided to swing by and snap a pic as I drove through Mobile and then continue on because the park would be closed by the time I arrived. When I saw that there was more to the memorial park than just the ship I decided to stay the night in Mobile and explore it more thoroughly in the morning. I am so glad I did as there was an amazing collection of planes and tanks/vehicles there… and the USS Drum submarine. It proved to be one of the better museums on a road trip that was packed with incredible museums.

In addition to the ship’s bell and one of the propellors displayed ashore, I took advantage of the opportunity to walk through the mighty battleship as you will se in the photos below. Bear in mind that some photos were shot through protective glass and may suffer a little in quality, but there was a lot to so and I’m glad I was able to capture as much as I did.
