I photographed this Landing Craft Personnel (Large) at the National WWII Museum in New Orleans. It was the earliest military craft designed by Andrew Jackson Higgins, and the LCP(L) in New Orleans is the only one on display left in the world.
The LCP(L) led to Higgins’s most famous design, the Landing Craft Vehicle Personnel (LCVP) that had a ramp to allow vehicles to drive off the boat.
