I photographed this Ice Cream Drop Tank at the Lone Star Flight Museum in Houston, Texas. During a extended lull period on the island of Peleliu, Squadron Commander J. Hunting Reinberg created an ice cream maker out of a drop tank modified so it could carry a ammo can filled with canned milk and cocoa powder. By taking his Corsair up to high altitude he created ice cream to satisfy his bored Marines.
