I photographed these Pitcairn Mailwing examples at the National Air & Space Museum and at Oshkosh. The NASM’s Mailwing NC-2895 was built in 1927 and was Pitcairn prototype for the series. After serving in a variety of roles, the plane was restored and presented by Eastern Air Lines employees to company president Capt. Edward V. Rickenbacker, who later donated it to the Museum
