I photographed this BLU-82 15,000lb bomb units at Eglin AFB and the National Museum of the USAF. These were developed so that when they exploded the vegetation would be destroyed without leaving a crater, creating instant landing areas for helicopters. This concept led to the GBU-43 MOAB.
