Examples of the Grumman F-9 Cougar (the swept-wing version of the F9F Panther) that I have photographed at the locations such as the Museum of Flight in Seattle and the Evergreen Aviation Museum in McMinnville, Ore. Mitchell even got to sit inside the cockpit of the TF-9J on board the USS Yorktown at Patriots Point. I photographed three different examples at the Pima Air Museum. The F9F-6 example at NAS Pensacola represents the transition model when the swept wings were first adopted, before the body shape was greatly altered for the F9F-8 Cougar.
