Here are a couple of examples of the Sikorsky JRS-1, the Navy’s version of the S-43 flying boat. The one under preservation at the National Air & Space Museum’s Udvar-Hazy Center is the only aircraft in the NASM collection that was stationed at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. The S-43 at the Pima Air Museum is painted as a military JRS-1. The S-43 was a smaller version of Sikorsky’s S-42 Clipper planes in use by Pan Am, and took the name “Baby Clipper”.
