I photographed this 1947 Lima 2-8-4 Kanawha K-4 Chesapeake and Ohio Railway #2756 at Newport News VA. This type was usually known as the Berkshire class, but the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway named their engines Kanawha after the river that cut through the railroad’s operational heartland in West Virginia.
