It took a family trip to Hawaii in 2014 to finally see the USS Missouri (BB-63) moored near the USS Arizona Memorial… even though the Iowa-class battleship had long been stored in nearby Bremerton up until reactivation in 1984. In 1998 the Missouri found a new home in Pearl Harbor, where she and the Arizona represent the first moments of WWII (for the US) and the final surrender of Japan.
