I felt the need to be among the thousands on hand for the unveiling of the restored B-17 Memphis Belle at the National Museum of the USAF. The ceremony on May 17, 2018, marked the 75th anniversary of the Memphis Belle’s famed 25th mission. It was good to see all the honored veterans being appreciated by so many military aviation buffs that convened for this special event.
Prior to the actual ceremony, I was able to take in the B-17 Yankee Lady and Movie Memphis Belle fly in and out of Grimes Field in nearby Urbana. I also had dinner with veterans during the 401st BG reunion in Columbus.
