Interstate S-1A Cadet

I photographed this 1941 Interstate S-1A Cadet during an air show at Paine Field in 2016. The military version was the L-6 Grasshopper

This particular Interstate S-1A Cadet became famous with instructor Cornelia Fort giving an early-morning lesson Dec. 7, 1941, and became the first plane to encounter the Japanese aircraft heading to Pearl Harbor. [from airport-data website: This aircraft was in Honolulu HI and was flying during the Pearl Harbor Attack The pilots flying it landed quickly in a grass field on the Kailua side of Oahu.]
