I photographed these Mk. 82 500-lb general purpose bombs at Eglin AFB and the Pima Air Museum. The Mk. 82 is often referred to as the Snake Eye fitted with high-drag fins for low-level bombing.
The fiberglass-bodied BLU-129 Mk 82 was built to match the weight and characteristics of the standard Mk 82, but with a fiberglass body that disintegrates instead of fragmenting, adding explosive force while also limiting collateral damage.
