P-51 Mustang (multiple)

Many, many examples of the North American P-51 Mustang out there on the airshow circuit… here are some of my photos. I shot two at the IWM Duxford, but apparently missed two others (44-73098 and 44-73979) so I’ll have to go through my pics from that trip again. I got some terrific shots of five different Mustangs from the edge of the runway at Grimes Field in Urbana, Ohio, in 2018. On that same trip, I photographed the Mustang’s dive bomber variant A-36 Apache at the NMoUSAF at Wright-Patterson AFB. My return to Dayton was able to see the Shimmy IV at the museum (the Mustang had been moved to make room for the Memphis Belle opening.)

I also have photographed notable Mustang racers Excalibur III at the NASM Udvar-Hazy, and as of Sept. 2, 2017, the “World’s Fastest Piston Powered Airplane” Voodoo at the PoF Chino.
