C-47 examples at McChord AFB in Tacoma, at the Evergreen Aviation Museum in McMinnville, Ore., IWM Duxford, and a working service example I found parked outside its vintage hangar in Ephrata, Wash. The shots at McChord are lower resolution because they were processed back in 2007 … I do have the originals and may take a look at uploading larger files if these aren’t clear enough. Examples of the DC-2 and DC-3 civilian versions have been photographed at the Museum of Flight, IMW Duxford and the Evergreen Aviation Museum.
Another fine C-47 Skytrain example was photographed at the Pima Air Museum in 2017. Later in 2017, I visited the Erickson Collection in Madras, Ore., where they display a C-47B that was converted to a DC-3 for passenger flights at the Tillamook Air Museum. That one, though displayed as a DC-3, still has the tail cutout indicating it had some glider towing capability.
I’ll start off with three examples painted up as “Spooky” — One of which is at least a real C-47 at Eglin, and two others are DC-3s similar enough that I had to verify I wasn’t shooting the same plane at separate places.
