Scaled Composites 316 SpaceShipOne (multiple)

I photographed SpaceShipOne at the Smithsonian National Air & Space Museum. Of course, Paul Allen was able to have a SpaceShipOne example in the FHC, as well the Scaled Composites White Knight that was the mothership that carried SpaceShipOne as a parasite aircraft. In the EAA Museum in Oshkosh, there is a replica displayed such that the armature moves to demonstrate operaion. Another replica is displayed in Dallas.

The SpaceShipOne is located in the Milestones of Flight exhibit, next to the Spirit of St. Louis and the Bell X-1 “Glamorous Glennis”. The SpaceShipOne was donated to the Smithsonian in 2005 by its designer, Burt Rutan, and its financier, Paul Allen.
