I photographed these Lockheed VC-140B Jetstar examples in the President’s gallery at the National Museum of the USAF and Pima, and a mostly obscured look at the one being restored at Robins AFB.
Six C-140 airframes (the military version of the Lockheed Model 1329 JetStar) were built with the VIP interior and used to transport President Johnson and other high-ranking officials. Whenever a President was aboard it assumed the radio call sign “Air Force One” though Johnson liked to refer to it as “Air Force One Half”. The NMoUSAF’s plane also served Presidents Nixon, Ford Carter and Reagan.

This was the only angle I could get in the crowded restoration area, where several planes were slightly visible but off limits. For example, the turret seen at the top of the Jetstar is all that can be seen of the museum’s B-25 Mitchell.
